Environmental Initiatives

With the awareness that environmental issues which have a global reach are long-term issues that will span future generations, the JBS Group makes efficient use of limited resources, cherishes contact with nature, and engages in environmental preservation starting close to home along with employees, their families, local communities, and customers.

Environmental Policy

In engaging in various business activities in Japan and overseas, we comply with the following policy and endeavor to realize our basic philosophy for the environment.

Climate Change Initiatives

Disclosure Based on the TCFD or an Equivalent Framework

The JBS Group has set out “Contributing to being carbon negative through collaborative creation with partners” as one of its material issues, and positions responding to climate change as an issue that it should address.

Governance

At present, our Board of Directors holds the authority to oversee risks and opportunities relating to sustainability as a whole, including climate change, and discussions are held at the Board of Directors on a regular basis.

Strategy

We are continuing to examine the impact that climate change has on the JBS Group.

Risk Management

At the JBS Group, the Board of Directors holds the authority to oversee risks and opportunities relating to sustainability as a whole. With respect to sustainability-related risks, as part of company-wide risk management we strive to grasp the status of our initiatives and the factors that impede them, and we also collect and analyze risk information at the Risk Management Committee held every month. In addition, risks judged to be material are reported to the President and CEO or the Board of Directors according to their level of importance.

Initiatives Within JBS

Introduction of Technologies and Products That Help Reduce Environmental Impact

When procuring devices such as PCs used within JBS, we give priority to dealing with manufacturers with which we can collaborate on environmental measures such as carbon offsetting. Through the PC manufacturers from which we procured, in FYE September 2025 we invested in greenhouse gas emission reduction activities of approximately 295 t-CO2. From a serverless perspective, by expanding our use of cloud services to shift our in-house servers to serverless, we also enjoy the energy emission reduction effects of Microsoft’s zero-emission initiatives.

Environmentally Conscious Office Buildings

The offices at each of our bases are located in the latest, environmentally conscious buildings. In particular, Toranomon Hills, where our headquarters is located, has state-of-the-art office building functions, including enabling large-scale natural power generation.

Work Place

Initiatives with Microsoft

At JBS, we contribute to reducing the energy consumption of customer companies by accelerating their business changeover from on-premises to the cloud.
Microsoft, which provides Microsoft Azure and Microsoft M365, has already achieved carbon neutrality and has announced a plan to absorb more CO2 than it emits by 2030. As a supplier holding certifications such as Advanced Specialization and numerous awards, JBS also contributes to Microsoft’s environmental initiatives under a strong partnership.

Initiatives with Hardware Manufacturers

Our partner companies that represent the world in the fields of hardware manufacturing, data center operation, and cloud services engage in efforts such as reducing greenhouse gases, improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy, and reducing waste through the provision of environmentally conscious products and solutions.
By supporting and collaborating with these partners’ environmental initiatives, JBS contributes to reducing customer companies’ greenhouse gases and energy consumption through the introduction of hardware products in their IT systems.

Biodiversity Initiatives

Our Approach to Biodiversity

In engaging in various business activities in Japan and overseas, the JBS Group incorporates environmental preservation, including the conservation of biodiversity, into its Environmental Policy and works on it. With the basic stance that employees, their families, and our business partners give full consideration to environmental preservation, we comply with environment-related laws and regulations in Japan and overseas and strive to make effective use of resources and energy.

Promoting Paperless Operations (Digitalization)

With the establishment of a remote work system and other changes, we are promoting paperless operations. By making full use of cloud environments such as Microsoft 365 for various applications, meeting materials, contracts with business partners, and more, we minimize the use of paper resources and thereby contribute to reducing environmental impact.
From FY2023/9, in conjunction with our response to the Electronic Books Maintenance Act, we introduced an initiative to receive invoices, operation reports, and the like from business partners through cloud services. We also changed our systems and operations so that vouchers related to orders received and placed (such as customers’ purchase orders, purchase quotations, and delivery slips) are attached as electronic data to our core system.
In addition, from FYE September 2025, we changed our operations so that all materials related to the twice-yearly inventory of merchandise are also compiled as electronic data.
