For many companies, “ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)” is an important system that serves as the foundation of their business. Through integrated management of all management resources and optimizing them using ERP it is possible to carry out management activities efficiently.
However, this ERP can be a burden in some organizations. Recently, carrying out quicker, more flexible and more efficient business through moving intra-company systems to cloud computing is growing, but ERP being a mission-critical system, many companies still choose to run it on-premise.
For IT departments who cannot secure ample budgets and personnel resources, the operation load of ERP has been a long-standing problem; however, recently motion to move ERP also to cloud computing is at last increasing. How can ERP be used through moving it to a public cloud? What are the crucial points for successful installation?

Mission critical systems also on Microsoft Azure

Through the penetration and technology development of cloud services, public cloud services capable of handling mission critical systems are increasing. In June 2014 SAP Japan and Microsoft Japan announced the “SAP on Azure” endeavor that would support SAP ERP application groups through “Microsoft Azure”. This enabled application groups including “SAP Business Suite” and “SAP Business All-In-One Solution” and the Azure supported version of the “SAP HANA” developers’ edition, to be officially used on Azure.
